About Nofovo

Nofovo is a small piece of software for the person who runs grants at a US nonprofit. It publishes four free worksheets that cost an application in hours and in dates, and it sells a subscription that keeps every funder, every application with its deadline, every award and every report the award owes on one record. It is built and run by Ellul Solutions Ltd, which is also the company you pay and the name that appears on the receipt.

Why this site exists

This site exists because grant offices lose applications to the calendar rather than to the writing. The work is knowable in advance: five partners owe you letters and each takes ten days, eight narrative sections at two and a half hours each, a board resolution that needs a meeting your bylaws give fourteen days' notice for. Nobody does that arithmetic because there was nowhere to do it, so the deadline arrives and the answer is whatever fits in the last weekend. The sheets here do it in public and for free, because an office that can see the shape of the work will make a better decision about which grants to chase whether or not it ever pays us.

Who it is for

The development director, grants manager or executive director at a US nonprofit that applies for foundation and federal grants and reports on the awards.

Not an individual seeking a grant or a scholarship, not a business after start-up funding, not a fundraiser running appeals or events, and not somebody incorporating a nonprofit.

What it does not do

  • No list of open grants: we explain how to research funders and what each kind of funder gives, and we do not maintain a directory we could not keep current.
  • No eligibility ruling and no prediction: whether you qualify is what the notice of funding opportunity says, and whether they will say yes is not knowable from a page.
  • No lead selling: enquiries are read by us and answered by us, and are never sold, rented or passed to anyone.
  • No legal or compliance advice: where a federal rule applies we cite the Uniform Guidance and link to it, and your award terms and your auditor govern your award.

What is on this site

4 free tools, each working its figure on the page with no account, and Nofovo Pro that keeps the record. All tools · Pricing.

What Nofovo Pro keeps

Upgrading turns a worked sheet into the calendar. The application you costed becomes a record with a deadline that is visible three weeks out rather than three days out; the funder you researched is there when the same programme opens again next year; and the reports an award owes appear on the calendar the day the money lands rather than the week they are late.

Who answers for it
